WHAT A WEEK!

This has been the most bizarre, insane, interesting week I've had in quite some time. Here's a little sample of SOME of the work I got done:

1. Ideated and wrote a sizable proposal for a major cable network
2. Ditto for a spirits company (HUGE proposal that basically included a new business channel)
3. Edited and partially wrote our newsletter (coming on Monday!)
4. Edited 2 press releases and wrote a quote for each
5. Edited a business plan (announcement coming soon!)
6. Had a conference call with the 2010 NYILFF creative agency about this year's campaign
7. Had a 4-hour meeting with our new Manager, Sponsor Partner Services (yay!)
8. Had a 2-hour conference call with our new Managing Director (yay!)
9. Wrote both consulting agreements and had them fully executed
10.Had a VERY interesting conversation with a potential strategic partner
11. Took care of bills.

And, that doesn't even include the basic calls, emails and little stuff we all do all day long. I mean, seriously... wha what?!

Meanwhile, amidst all of this work, I also ended up in an inane legal battle with some pernicious agency guys. Bad, bad men. Sic lawyer, sic!

The weird thing is, I feel great. I still feel tremendous positive energy and momentum. Not even those nasty agency men can stop the universe or bring me down. What goes around, comes around. That's all I have to say about that.

I'm a Giants fan, but since that's clearly irrelevant right now, I choose to support the local team. Plus, I like Mark Sanchez, so... GO JETS!

Let's Help This Film!

Two very dear friends of mine have been working on an indie movie for a very long time. They are two of the most talented, dedicated, kind guys I know, so, on behalf of Cinedulce, ima gonna try to help them get this movie financed.

Check it...

"Elliot Loves", written and directed by Terracino

Combining elements of fantasy and farce with domestic drama, "Elliot Loves" tells two seemingly disparate stories: that of nine-year-old Dominican-American Elliot Ayende and his emotionally on-the-edge, single mother; and, one summer in the life of Elliot, now 21-years-old and enduring a string of comically bad relationships. Both stories explore the universal need to be loved and understood. "Elliot Loves" is daring and new, yet ultimately embracing of the human condition and all its frailties. As Elliot himself teaches us, we can survive almost anything life throws at us, just "Keep it cute, Papi".

Help Haiti!

We all have been watching, hearing and reading about the devastation in Haiti. The numbers are up to 100,000 dead. Just think about that. 100,000. Truly tragic.

If you're like me (as I suspect you are), you're wondering how you can help the people of Haiti in these terribly tough times of need. Here's one way...

Yele Haiti is a grassroots movement that builds global awareness for Haiti while helping to transform the country through programs in education, sports, the arts and environment. Yéle’s community service programs include food distribution and mobilizing emergency relief. Grammy-Award winning musician, humanitarian and Goodwill Ambassador to Haiti Wyclef Jean founded Yéle Haiti in 2005.

When It Rains...

I know I wrote this about a week ago, but this truly is the fastest beginning to a new year I can remember. Ever. It's unreal. I am slammed. It feels more like June (when the NYILFF kicks into high gear) than January. But, it's kind of a good way to start the year (and decade); the energy feels incredibly powerful and positive. Come on, Universe - hook me up!

Yesterday, I had two very long, very excellent meetings - both about potential sponsorship.

In the first mtg, we discussed what could amount to a major strategic partnership (including Cinedulce!) vs. a one-off event sponsorship. This was an in-person f/u to last Friday's call, after which I did some serious thinking (which is pretty impressive considering how much I drank this weekend...). Needless to say, the agency that brought me the client is psyched about my ideas, so now it's time to write the proposal and light a candle... or two.

My second meeting was with some folks at an agency I've known for years. They have a couple of new clients that may be PERFECT for the NYILFF. Woo-hoo! I have a bit of follow-up work for them, but much less than the first meeting.

All sorts of cool announcements coming soon. Stay tuned...

Random Thoughts Before the Weekend

Can you believe Elvis wold have been 75 this year?! Rock on, Houndog...

Last weekend, I went to TD Bank with a year's worth of collected coins - love that "Penny Arcade"... $89!

On 101.9 RXP, Matt Pinfield just played Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' "I Hate Myself for Loving You". Genius.

I've had some very big calls and meetings this week. I can't remember having such a fast, strong start to the new year. Hopefully, this is a reflection of not only a new year, but a new decade full of exciting adventures and continued personal and career expansion and growth.

My workweek will continue through Sunday evening, when I have a drinks meeting to discuss a potentially
VERY interesting partnership. No guarantees, but you know I wouldn't take a Sunday meeting unless I really thought it was worth it. He and I danced around the issue in Fall '09, but this is our first opportunity really to discuss in detail the strategic synergies (which, quite frankly, are clear as day).

It's going to be another freeze this weekend. Stay warm and watch some movies!

Purge, Baby, Purge!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope you had a great holiday and are excited to start working on your 2010 resolutions! You know you can make it happen, so start the new year (and decade) strong and get crackin'!

I am typing from a spotless desk alongside a spotless windowsill above a spotless floor adjacent to spotless, reorganized shelves down the hall from a spotless, redesigned living room and next door to a spotless bathroom and bedroom, both with far less 'stuff' than just a week ago (adios 3 bags of give-away!). Give me one more day to tie up some miscellaneous loose ends, and "Operation: Apartment Clean and De-Clutter" will be complete. Needless to say, I had a very productive last week of 2009.

Next Step: body cleanse. Anyone have a recommendation for a good one (and, no, Marvin + Dennis, I don't want to do that hideous Tabasco one you guys do... Blech!)? I'm not looking to lose 10 lbs in 2 days or anything extreme like that; I just want to give my insides a chance to detox and reboot. Then, I'll begin the retox with a celebratory glass of wine. ;)
